RE: [RC] Weight Divisions!! - heidiHow much weight you lose depends.I've lost well over 10 pound at times. It depends on how much time you spend on the ground. (Running, tailing, etc) If you are "working" like the horse, you will lose weight. Just to report on the general trend at the FEI 100 where I recently weighed all participants before, during, and after. A few were down a couple of pounds in the middle, but virtually all were the same or heavier after the ride. (And I suspect some of them did ground work, and ALL of them worked...) It has a lot to do with how well you keep yourself fed and hydrated. We humans don't have a huge hindgut to vary our weight as much as the horse does. Like Angie, I find myself weighing as much or more at the end of the ride as at the beginning--particularly if I watch my water intake. I do try to eat well during a ride--because if I don't, I become a real burden to my horse. And most times I am pretty good about keeping up on my own food. (I neglected myself on the 60-miler at the Owyhee Canyonlands ride--and when I got into the vet check at 45 miles, I was feeling REALLY sorry for my horse. Hubby took horse and parked me by the cooler full of food and drinks--and after a 50-minute hold, I was topped back up and ready to be a good partner to my horse again. We had a 28-mile leg without a hold--and I KNOW better, but I didn't eat well enough at the hold at 17 miles to get myself through that long of a leg. <sigh>) Heidi Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
