Re: [RC] Weight Divisions!! - rides2farHmmm....I think we should drop the saddle, too. IMHO, the WEIGHT of the> saddle is irrelevant and would not have any impact on saddle "choice". You cannot tell me that super heavyweights don't hope to find a 6 lb. saddle that fits! In> 50's and greater distances, you WILL have a saddle that fits...or you won't> do well...at least not at the "award" level. Well, theoritically that should be so...but I'll swear some people could get away with riding *any* saddle and do great and some people could take a the same horse and make him sore using the same saddle in 5 miles. Choosing a saddle because of> the weight is like choosing a horse because of his color....that's the LAST> thing you consider. OK, lets hear a vote? Who out there would not choose a light saddle over a heavy one *if* you could find one that fit? For example, Magic loses approximately 30 pounds at every ride. Why> would the difference between a 15 pound saddle and a 25 pound saddle even be> an issue? So...if you gain 10 lbs of body fat you won't worry that you're doing your horse wrong by not losing it? The difference in when I feel skinny and when I feel fat is about 10 lbs. and it's on my mind every day. My new horse is small and I feel it's *important* that I weigh in at the bottom of my range. If I could shave 10 lbs off the weight of my saddle without giving up fit I'd do it in a heartbeat! I would prefer just the RIDER weight. It would make weigh-ins a lot easier, but think about it girls...right now we can always blame the saddle when we weigh in high. Who wants their *real* weight on that form? :-P Angie ________________________________________________________________ Speed up your surfing with Juno SpeedBand. Now includes pop-up blocker!
