RE: [RC] Weight Divisions!! - Jim HollandHmmm....I think we should drop the saddle, too. IMHO, the WEIGHT of the saddle is irrelevant and would not have any impact on saddle "choice". In 50's and greater distances, you WILL have a saddle that fits...or you won't do well...at least not at the "award" level. Choosing a saddle because of the weight is like choosing a horse because of his color....that's the LAST thing you consider. The difference between horses in general is more than that. For example, Magic loses approximately 30 pounds at every ride. Why would the difference between a 15 pound saddle and a 25 pound saddle even be an issue? I would prefer just the RIDER weight. That would encourage heavier people to use lighter saddles and often the lighter saddles don't distribute weight as well. A saddle & rider is enough. I didn't understand not weighing bridles in FEI. I can see leaving off waterbottles though. I agree we have too many divisions. I've had my butt kicked too many times by a HW to think I'm at that much of a disadvantage competing against the smaller FW.
