Re: [RC] UAE Involvement in AERC Functions - heidiJust another perspective... We can govern what is ours, and we can set a good example. I am inspired by the pacifist Quakers in World War II who were conscientious objectors--they did not burn flags and protest, but instead went as stretcher bearers and ambulance drivers and medics and various other roles. I, too, am appalled by what goes on in some other parts of the world. But we Americans are slow to learn that we cannot change other cultures by boycott--we can only change them by being involved and setting a better example. Granted, it is difficult to walk a path of involvement while maintaining one's own standards. But in the long run, it gets more permanent results. Just my humble opinion.
