[RC] CTR's in WA and TX - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jonni jonnij@xxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== That's good old American capitalism at work. Given two options, people choose the one they perfered. The CTR folks evidently didn't refine their product to be more attractive so it just faded away.<<< Truman, there have NEVER been that many CTR rides in Washington. Just a few off and on over the years as far as I can remember. It is not that it 'faded away', it is just an area where there seems to have never been a real strong interest as other areas. I would not "blame the rules" for the rides no longer taking place. There are only 6 different AERC ride days for the state of Washington listed for 2004.(one ride is a 2 day) So distance riding is just not a thriving sport in WA like it is in other states. There are 18 AERC ride days in TX for 2004 (some rides offer more than one day) We had 10 NATRC rides just in Texas (more for the region if you counted Oklahoma and Louisiana) in 2004. So down this way, distance riding is very active. Most of the NATRC rides are full. (usually a limit to 60 riders, often a waiting list) Both sports are doing well. Some riders do both sports, some just choose one or the other. Those who do NATRC know the rules are different than endurance, and seems to have no problem. If they do, it sure has not scared off many riders, as we don't seem to lack entries.
