Re: [RC] western saddles - Ed & Wendy HauserAbout the only thing I can suggest is to get the stirrups turned properly. Here is what I did way back then when I was a cowboy (wannabe): 1. Get the fenders really wet with water. If the saddle has a lot of oil you may have to put some detergent into the water to get it to wet them. 2. Put the saddle on the floor with the leathers flat out to the side. 3. Use rocks or bricks to hold the stirrups turned the leather in a gentle curve. 4. Wait a few days until the leather dries. The stirrups should now hang perpendicular to the horse removing the leg strain. 5. Get a stick, dowel, or whatever and store the saddle with the stick through the stirrups to hold them at the proper angle.
