Re: [RC] is this fair or legal - heidiIf they were trailered back and rode the portion of the trail that they missed, then they can get a completion (with miles and completion points), but no placing, Best Condition or bonus points. To qualify for placing you must not only ride the entire trail, but in the correct order and direction. I might add that the one way they could still get placing by being trailered back would be to rejoin the trail at the point that they missed it, and then ride the entire ride on in from that point, so that they have achieved the "correct order and direction." Of course, their placing is the time that they finish AFTER doing this--not when they originally came in and had to be trailered back. We had a classic example of this rule in play at Owyhee Canyonlands last year (although sans trailer). A significant number of riders missed a turn, starting with what would have been the 4th place horse--about 7 or 8 riders following each other, if memory serves. They were given the choice of going back out to the missed turn and coming back in on the correct trail for placing, or simply making up the missing mileage for completion only. Most chose to do the former--although since the turn was not all THAT far out of camp, they rode back out to that point and continued on, instead of being trailered. Of course, they were then placed in the order in which they came into camp the second time--somewhere back in the teens. Three opted to simply make up the missed mileage and get completions only.
