I had just the opposite problem a couple years
ago. We had gotten a young gelding that jerked his foot up anytime
he even thought you wanted his foot! Made me wonder just how he had been
taught to pick up his feet (if you know what I mean). Like Ed
said, I had to really work at touching his legs and making him realize that I
WASN'T asking him to pick it up. But even now I use the chestnut to
ask him to pick it up because I really don't want be down that low in case he
regresses.
