Faratha, our first 1/2 Arab Grey Mare which we bought over 30 years ago, 
at 4 1/2 green broke, developed melanomas around age 8, she lived till 
27, died of normal old age, and between 20 and 27 had four babies, two 
of which  now 17 and 21 have had their first babies this year, and maybe 
at 20 the babies will have their first. 

The melanomas became so extensive that the  Vet at Lasson Chalange took 
pictures for his students.  Did not bother Faratha a bit.  Of the four 
get the only canacer was a slight skin cancer on her son, years ago and 
it was treated and is not a problem.  This son took 3rd at Tevis acouple 
of years ago and the two  mother/sisters have boh completed Tevis  and 
all have completed Championship Ride and Ted.  (SO MUCH FOR BACKYARD 
HORSES)  We happen to own the fat her also.

We at that time has no idea what green broke meant.  But some of us just 
do not give up.  Anyway she was the Kids haorse and their love came 
first.Ted and Joan Ruprecht  Humboldt Co Cal.

Faaratha was a great ride and Tie horse a fine endurance horse and a 
great family pet.
