So, please, if anyone has had a horse with cancer, I'd sure like to know what happened when it metastisized.
I had a horse in my pasture with a huge sarcoid. The owner said he would pay for the lazer surgery and give me the horse if I would do the aftercare for him. I took him up to Davis and there was an oncologist from France there at the time. They told me that the sarcoid was the least of this horse's problems because he had cancer. We took him home and let him live out his days in the pasture. He was fine and happy and ignored the sarcoid. I tried to keep pests off it and have the vet check him regularly. He lived for a year or so but then I noticed that he had just a suggestion of ribs showing and his coat was not as shiny as before. I called his owner and told him I though it was time to let him go before he started to suffer. The vet came the next week and put him down. He was a nice, sweet horse and I think he never suffered. That was our experience.......mb
