I have several cats and haven't lost a one since I got my donkeys out 
there. They keep EVERYTHING out


They won't keep out owls.  And there are definately species of
owls that can and will kill a cat.  I lost my only indoor-outdoor
cat to one (she was miserable if I forced her to be indoor-only).  
She was a tough cat -- and about 18lbs -- who didn't stray off
the property and all that was left were tufts of hair only a 
few feet from my back door (no other predator was an option).
