Re: [RC] [RC] flies - Gabi (Ra'anana Farm) - Bette LamoreHi BarbaraI ordered the fly predators for 2 years running and it worked great for our barn, where we released half of them--- but the others seemed to prefer the cow pastures of our neighbor's so we were supplying them with free predators. Then we again attempted to use them on our place now which has no cattle nearby, yet the little buggers seem to disappear again. The problem is that our horses are on a 35 acre pasture and so there is no central manure pile, which you really need to keep the little buggers at home. The only other solution I can think of is little minuscule tethers on the predators ;-) or a very sexy well fed (too-fat to fly) female (or male) predator who keeps the others close to home????? Bette Barbara McCrary wrote: I was given a "subscription" to the Fly Predators, and while I was originally skeptical, I truly believe they reduced the flies around our house and paddock, which is about 50 feet or less from our house. The nearest other horses are 1/2 mile away, and they had lots of face flies hanging around. We had very few, and we did not have the usual attack of house flies, either. Maybe it's just the different weather this summer.....very dry, little fog, and warmer than usual.....but the neighbors had more flies than we. I would like to think it was a result of the Fly Predators, and I plan to subscribe to the system next year.
