[RC] Trainging For Multi-Day - Benedikte Whitman

I would like to get some feedback on how people train for multi-days and
how they determine if their horse is ready. I scanned the archives but
only found a single posting that was somewhat relevant to this question.

I have set my sights on doing Bryce Canyon XP this year and trying for all
5 days on the same horse. I realize that there are MANY long days and
obstacles between here and there - but a goal helps to keep me on track.

Generally when I train, I train up to the ride distance and then ride that
distance in training a couple of times to be reasonably confident that my
horse is ready for the event (if it is a 2-day I train the distance 2 days
in a row to be sure). However, I am not going to be able to ride 5 - 50
mile training rides day after day while training. What is a good
alternative to feel that I am not taking an under-prepared horse to the event.
Thanks,
Benedikte
