Re: [RC] dare to go bare - A. Perez"How long has your horse had his shoes off? One factor in hoof wear is how healthy/strong the walls are." Right now he's been barefoot for about 2 years. I have not had any wear problems recently as I have not been riding alot. But I'm assuming if he can wear through steel shoes in 4 weeks he'll wear through hoof nearly as fast. He has very hard hoofs (which I am told is often true with Walkers). As I said, I think it is riding on asphalt that does it. I avoid it as much as I can but cannot avoid it entirely. I have used easy boots but have problems losing them in muddy conditions. I have not tried using vet-wrap with the easy boots and don't want to: I have little enough time to ride as it is without having to mess with that. Unfortunately my guy is a grade 4 roarer, so endurance is out for us until I can afford surgery for him, which won't be for awhile. :-( ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
