RE: [RC] ride "stats" reporting section on SERA website - ranch"...My experience with a super recovering horse was that if I would slow down and walk/trot the last 1/2 - 3/4 mi. he passed those who hurried in ..." I read somewhere that a horse cools more efficiently at a walk or slow trot than standing still because the movement of blood out of the muscles is enhanced by their movement. My experience says this is true with one possible exception. I have experienced conditions (90 degrees, no wind, 100% humidity) where the only quick way to cool was lots of cold water.
