My daughters pony, actually he is half pony and half horse, has a hardened crest. I am afraid that he is on the verge of founder. I feed only grass hay but have added beet pulp, 1/3 rd of a 3 lb. coffee can dry pellets (soaked) , since our big snow storm after Cristmas. Now that the weather is not as bitterly cold, I wonder if 1 lb. of whole oats will hurt him as far as adding more weight. I need to get trace mineral salt in him in order to keep him drinking adeaquate amounts of water. The soaked beet pulp was great for getting the salt down him. He and my Arab are going to be quite miffed when they realize that I am not feeding beet pulp to them anymore. Does it hurt to just stop the beet pulp? Beccy In Utah
