[RC] over populated 'crappy' horses - rides2far(And > far> too many of them dump their colts unregistered, because they simply are> NOT marketable as riding horses... I don't get it. I've got three unregistered purebred geldings out here. Their owners knew they were good horses when they produced them but as geldings didn't see that it was worth the cost (for them) to register them. They were bred to perform and lack of papers never hurt them any. I just bought two new horses...one's registered, one isn't. Unless the sweepstakes thing on the registered one happens to pay off someday there'll be no other difference to me. Kaboot & Southern Rock (who is now listed on Equine.com if somebody wants a made horse to compete in a 50 tomorrow...Rock...not Kaboot!) are both from the foal crop right when the market crashed in '89. That seems to be about the last of the cheap horses years. I've had quite a few geldings who were the same age as them go through my hands...but never seemed to run across any born in 92, 93, 94... Had to look at "retail" this time...but ended up getting lucky on my unregistered one. When the owner prefers big western Paints you know he's gonna be willing to come down on the price of that darned "A-rab" in his field. >g< Angie ________________________________________________________________ Get your name as your email address.
