Re: [RC] elevator rides..why they went away - heidiThat said, the LD-to-50 elevators often DO start the LDs an hourlater--and the prospective elevating rider simply has to "eat" the time difference. <<< Not so...........From the AERC rule book: 1.2.3 A rider who elevates is eligible for completion only 1.2.4 If the starting times are not the same, elevating riders must have the same time limits of Rule 5 applied to their original rides starting time. Thanks for the correction, Jonni. I was just corrected by another rider privately, and was just in the process of going back to re-read that rule. I'm glad to see that that is still in the AERC rule book! So, folks, you DON'T have to "eat" the time difference if you elevate from the LD to the 50. But again, this is one reason why elevated riders ride for completion only--there is no way one can "place" riders when they are riding on a different clock, so to speak. In response to the previous guest post, one shouldn't be racing when one first STARTS to ride 50s, either--so getting "completion only" is fair enough for having had the opportunity to quit at 25 and still get credit for the LD. (Yeah, I admitted to not reading the rules earlier in this discussion--it always pays to read the rules! <g>) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
