RE: [RC] Bask line as endurance horse? - LaBrake, Denise A
Paul,
The book,
"Arabian Legends" by Marian Carpenter, states the that "some of the
better know offspring competed and won in more then one division, Park, Hunter
and English Pleasure, Driving, Western/working western, Halter Stallions/colts,
Halter Mares/fillies. 30 to 50% of direct decedents of *Bask were winners."
This says a
lot. I think that you will be fine, it's like all the rest are saying,
bloodlines don't really make a difference. It the horse and the rider enjoy what
they do together, it will work and if not the shoe won't fit. If it fits wear
it.
If you are
real concerned I would probably purchase a horse trained in
endurance.
But, what do
I know :) Just me speaking.
Kathie,
The book
really says tons moor about the breed and much of what you are seeing in your
horses exhibit.
Pick up the
book, it's inspiring to read and understand how Arabians were introduced to the
US. Good History!

Hey thanks Denise. I will be looking for your email after you go
thru the book. I'll try to find it also. But what was the exact
title again to be sure?
No I
don't know anymore then the book but it's been awhile since I read it. I'm
going to skim it tonight and I will let you know what is
says.
I love
looking at this stuff. It was interesting to me because I knew I bought into
some royal bloodlines. The breeders made sure and filled me
in.
Then I
found the book on just how royal they are! It is exciting and I would
already have the stallion picked out from the breeders that I want to bred
my Mare
to just
to continue the tradition.
Have fun
and I will email you some info. Buy the book through Amazon, it is
neat.

HI, I just read your post and it interested me because I have
mares that have the bask stallion in them. They are not big horses,
but excellent minds and attitude, take good care of themselves and very
loyal animals. I didn't see any other posts in regards to
this. I've heard of the bask line being good but really don't know
much. Do you have any more info on the bask line by chance?
Opps...there is one now calling me to feed them! better go!
(they were in the barn last night and want out!
There is a book I have at home with the
history of the "BASK" bloodlines in it all the way back to the
beginning. I will look it up in there for you and see what they were
traditionally bred for. I have a McCoy,Gainey Mare myself and I
looked this up in it as well. We should be okay.
Be back tomorrow
with some insight. Also, I think the name of the book is "Arabian
Legends", by Marian Carpenter. You should pick it up from Amazon
if you can.
