RE: [RC] Lip-Flipping - Jim HollandFlinn Anderson's horse "Abe" (SA MR LINCOLN) has done this as long as I can remember...even just trail riding. He even gets in "sync" with his trot. Abe has well over 1,000 miles, including hundreds, and has shown no ill effects from this. I rode her in several endurance rides many years ago. Once she was in extremely good endurance shape (several 50 milers, some top ten,,,pretty good for a gaited horse, huh?!!), she developed what I can only call a nervous tick. She would flip her bottom lip constantly. That, combined with the fact that she would loose her appetite in heavy training, convinced me that this was not all that fun for her, so I retired her from endurance. Anyway, I'm now riding her daughter, who is like her in some ways, but much better in most ways. Occasionally, when we are in a situation where there is a lot of outside stress(i.e: lots of commotion, 4-wheelers, dogs barking, etc.) she will exhibit the same lip-flipping behaviour. I always do what I can to de-fuse the situation, but I'm just curious if anyone else has an experience with this "lip-flipping" Maybe it's just me????
