Re: [RC] boots, tendons, pasos and barrel racing... - heidias for the feeding program, I've raised lots of foals and used to be pretty neurotic about supplements and special feeds. I quit all that and now just feed them lots of top quality hay, good pasture and just handfuls of a 12 percent grain. The grain mostly is to get them used to coming in to the paddock and being with me. They grow and thrive without putting on more weight than their legs and joints can take. Just one more comment here--the #1 cause of DJD (developmental joint disease) in young horses is excess carbohydrate intake. It far outranks mineral imbalances or deficiencies or any other causes.
