Re: [RC] cinch irritation - heidiRegarding the wool fleece cinches and girths....... What the heck do you handle riding in the cold, wet, mucky, muddy winter, let's say you do a really long ride in the rain and come back with a wool cinch soaked with sweat, mud and manure.....and gosh darn, you have another horse to ride that day or one tomorrow......just have a lot of cinches to be able to swap until the first one dries out? How long does that take in the winter? Don't even think I'm going to put it in my elderly, cranky washing machine.... Karen Gosh, I run them through my cranky, elderly washing machine all the time! Certainly before I go to rides, so I start with a clean one, and most times when we get home from rides as well, since that's when they get the yuckiest. (But I don't put them through the dryer--I let them air dry.) In a pinch, I'll hose them off (or wash them in a bucket at a ride, if they get really icky-sweaty and/or sandy) and blot them as dry as I can by rolling them in a towel. But they really don't tend to get all that dirty most of the time. They absorb moisture well enough that a little bit of clean water in them doesn't seem to be irritating to the horse. And with two of us riding, we do have three--only one is shorter, so it can only be a spare for specific horses. (Would like to own a couple more, if $$$ permitted...)
