Re: [RC] [RC] cinch irritation - Laurie Durgin

You can buy or make cinch/girth covers of wool. You could get them from Stateline tack, Dover, ebay, etc. You could also make them out of wool fleece. I made some out of fake fleece, they worked fine for regular riding. Then you could use one girth and get several covers, and let them dry out from washing...

Regarding the wool fleece cinches and girths.......

What the heck do you handle riding in the cold, wet, mucky, muddy winter,
let's say you do a really long ride in the rain and come back with a wool
cinch soaked with sweat, mud and manure.....and gosh darn, you have
another horse to ride that day or one tomorrow......just have a lot of
cinches to be able to swap until the first one dries out? How long does
that take in the winter?

Don't even think I'm going to put it in my elderly, cranky washing
machine....
Karen
