Re: [RC] Bazleyd - heidiBazleyd was indeed bred by W.R. Brown, but evidentially sold him to Traveler's Rest as he is listed, with a photo, in their catalog. He must have been a big!! (Oh NO!! NOT the TaLL stuff again!!) as he is listed as being 15'1" and 1100lbs. They also noted that "he was such a powerfully built horse that he appeared larger than he was. Also had a very wide, deep chest, and broad and muscular hindquarters." I did not find anything in the old Travlers' Rest book about him being gaited, though. renie Thanks for looking that up, Renie... Makes me feel like less of a "senior moment" for having said he was at Travelers Rest... <g> No real reason for them to mention that he was gaited, as that was a fairly common occurrence among the old-line horses. It wasn't unusual to see them shown in 5-gaited classes, even--back in the days before such classes were relegated to specific breed shows. Another poster posted me privately and listed his TWH registration number, where they had looked him up. Several of the Kellogg horses were likewise gaited--*Raseyn and Rabiyas come to mind, right off the top of my head. RT Muffin (AERC Hall of Fame) was gaited. We had his mother toward the end of her life, and bred her to our stallion Abu Ben Surrabu ("Junior") who is also gaited. Their daughter gaits out in the pasture when she is relaxed and just traveling along. She likewise has a gaited daughter. Don't have either one of them started under saddle yet, but am looking forward to it!
