Re: [RC] blind horses & trails - heidiWorst of all are the "whoop-de-doos", the small rises and falls made by motorbikes down the center of the trails. He can't judge the depth and will stumble on each one. That's certainly the truth! At the Santiam ride, when Junior could still see a little bit out of one eye, we had a long stretch of "motorcycle moguls." It about drove us nuts--we had to pick our way through, and ended up making better time riding through the brush beside the trail, where we could. The logs on Cash Mountain were small potatoes compared to the moguls! The good part about going through the moguls is that we caught up to a lady off her horse because she couldn't control him--she was able to get back on and just put her horse behind Junior, who never fussed when he got bumped, either. After a few miles of that, her horse had a clue, and she was able to move on ahead of us at the pace that SHE chose... :-) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
