Re: [RC] waterproofing boots & pants - Mary SutliffHere in wonderful western Washington Gortex is the way to go. If your boots are all leather the best thing I have found for waterproofing is Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather. I am an expert on wet feet having started hiking, backbacking and climbing in Washington state back in 1969 or so. When I was climbing I had 2 pairs of boots always. One wet and drying out and the other in use. It's a little easier to keep boots dry when your riding. At least you don't have to walk through all the puddles. I still have more than one pair of boots and I suggest buying one of those boot dryers. I think I have tried all the waterproofers on the market. Back in the late 70's & early 80's I was on the qualiy advisory board at REI and we got to try lots of samples. Nikwax is the best I've found. They also have other waterprooking for fabrics & such. To keep your tights dry wear rain pants. If it rains as hard as it did here last Saturday it's not unusual for all rain gear and waterproofing to fail. It's nice to have dry clothes back at the rig. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
