Re: [RC] [RC] Brenderup and Back Roads - sharon1359Regarding surge brakes coming on because people are driving too fast: even if I took a frost heave at a crawl, those brakes came on. I replaced my Brenderup with a brand new, fully-insulated, aluminum, straight-load horse trailer with a divider... not a "spring-axle open stock trailer with a cheap purchase price". I am very happy with my choice. And yes, it was cheaper than the used Brenderup... but still lots more $$ than a stock trailer. Kathy: Even though I don't live in the West, we have our fair share of the long bumpy dirt roads that you were asking about... so I hope my experiences help you. Please let me know if you would like me to email you directly with my other feedback on the trailer. -Sharon K. Quoting terry banister <terrybanister@xxxxxxxxxxx>: I am one of the minority of endurance riders here in the "West" who is hauling with a Brenderup Baron for the past 4 years, and I know that when I take a speed bump too fast in town, the inertia brakes kick in, so when I am driving on long bumpy backroads, I drive slow enough not to cause that. I have had no problem hauling on bumpy backroads. The trailer is solid and it has needed no maintenance. But if I lived and drove on bumpy backroads on a constant basis, I probably wouldn't want to drive slow all the time - although, the picture of hauling horses quickly over bumpy backroads in an open, spring-axle stock trailer brings "pretty rough ride" to MY mind. I think the reason stock trailers are the "trailer of choice" has more to do with the original purchase price ;-} Terry "May the Horse be with you"

Happy Trails!

Terry

>From: sharon1359@xxxxxxxxxxx >To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: Re: [RC] Brenderup and Back Roads >Date: Mon, 23 Aug 2004 11:55:22 -0400 > >Kathy, > >I used to have a Brenderup Baron TC.
