You are right with your theory, but there are a lot of other variable, such as the adjuvant used, etc. I don't know of any studies comparing efficacy of the two vaccines, and Susan can speak for her own personal experience with the two, but my understanding is that the main objection to the Merial vaccine is a higher incidence of reactions. And vaccine risk is certainly something that has to be weighed right along with efficacy when making choices.
