[RC] Tevis Sponsorship - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jill McGee jmcgee1201@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I am amazed by how convoluted and mis-informed the discussion of this year's Tevis has become! Perhaps some facts will help. First, Tevis is NOT hurting for money. If it weren't well-funded, do you really think WSTF would have failed to collect the thousands they could have made by printing shirts and hats? As it was, people were trying to buy my volunteer t-shirt off my back! WSTF could also step up its sponsorship program without allowing a single sponsor to dominate! Second, no discussion I was within earshot of at Tevis or at home EVER raised the issue of politics. The first I heard of that argument was here on ridecamp. And thanks to those ridecampers who didn't assume those who disagree with how this issue was handled must be bigots. Third, I don't think anyone is finding fault with the UAE or its endurance village or the participation of its riders. If fault is to be assigned, it lies with how the Tevis board handled this issue. And fourth, the issue isn't ingratitude! If we didn't treasure Tevis, why would we care about the manner in which it is perpetuated? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
