[RC] Doncaster Renegade 25 - A. PerezI am planning to enter the Doncaster 25 (sept 26). It will be the first ride I have entered. I need advice! - My TWH gelding is sweats like a pig, so even though the ride is only 25 miles, should I give elytes? Are there any dry elytes that can be mixed with grain on the market? I'll bring syringible elytes to the ride but would like to pre-dose in grain if possible (he's 16.2 so syringing is not easy!) Also, I tried searching the archives for the 'home made' elyte recipe (made of salt, lite salt and Tums, I think) but the search engine is not working. If anyone could send it to me I'd be grateful. - water availability ont he trail: how is it? - I have the basic gear: bridle, halter, saddle, pad, cooling sheet... any 'must-haves' besides a sponge and green ribbon? I will be alone (no crew), so I'd like to keep things as simple as possible. - Footing: what is the trail like? My guy is barefoot, and I'd like to do the ride that way if it isn't too rocky or too much on paved roads. - If anyone would like to ride REALLY SLOWLY with me (Cy is a roarer, so he has to do alot of wlking, though he walks REALLY fast!), I'll be the only one there (I wager) in a Brenderup Solo with a huge bay walking horse: look for me! 5. Any other advise or words of encouragement will be most appreciated!
