[RC] repelling flies with vinegar - Ridecamp Guest

I have read that putting vinegar in your horse's drinking water can help repel 
flies, but I have not been able to find out what proportions of vinegar and 
water to use.  Has anyone tried this and, if so, how much vinegar would you add 
to 5 gal. of water?  Thanks!
