Re: [RC] Was Buying/selling horses--now accusations of "bashing" - heidiI have to laugh, Heidi I was wondering if you could refrain from bashing any of my posts just once Bette, my post was not meant as a bash, but as an explanation of how many of us perceive our breeding programs. There is nothing "wrong" with selling as you do--but people DO need to understand what goes into the making of a long-term program, where the foals are NOT first and foremost saleable commodities. I could whine about you "bashing" my way of doing things, but I don't. I just keep trying to explain the difference, so that people can have the advantage of seeing different perspectives. I get sick and tired of being accused by you of "bashing" every time I turn around. Quit reading things into my posts that are not there. Or better yet, if you feel they strike a nerve, ask yourself why you feel the need to take them so personally. I usually try to delete you as a personal recipient because I am addressing ridecamp, not you. You will do things your way, and that's your business. But on the other hand, I've been around about twice as long as you as a breeder, and have never felt the need to quit breeding for the lack of a market, so I don't see why ridecampers shouldn't hear what has worked for me as well for over three decades. Sorry if I was too busy this morning to strip your name out of the "to" line and just address it to the ridecampers. But I also don't think I should have to refrain from stating a different viewpoint just because it doesn't jibe with your own pet theories about breeding and marketing. Last I checked, this was a forum about endurance and anything and everything related to it. Please tell me why I should NOT discuss my vision of a breeding program on this forum, since most of the babies that I DO sell end up on the endurance circuit? Perhaps we need a forum called "Bette Camp" where we will all tiptoe around your sensibilities? Get a grip, Bette. And if my posts upset you so much, do me a favor--just delete them unread. I get tired of having a fight picked EVERY time I respond to anything you post, and I suspect others on the forum do too. I couldn't care less whether you read my posts or not--but there ARE those out there who DO read them, and it is those folks to whom I am speaking. I actually try very hard NOT to attack you personally in posts--but if I said "Have a nice day" I think I would get a post back from you claiming that it was a personal attack. If anything, I would submit that I could claim YOUR constant accusations of "bashing" are a form of personal attack, and that I should be the one whining about it. But it isn't worth the trouble. However, to suggest that I have no right to express an opinion that contradicts one of yours on this forum is quite a stretch, and to call it a "bash" to boot is a REAL stretch. Heidi PS: I don't see Chris posting that I am "bashing" her methods, although she is doing the same thing in essence that you are doing. Chris posted first about marketing foals before they are born, and you responded to her post. But Chris is capable of understanding the difference between "bashing" and simply explaining a different approach.... (And in fact, Chris and I are good "net friends" and share a lot of breeding discussion privately.) When I see posts such as yours claiming to be so wronged because someone "attacked" you by stating a different opinion, my inclination is to invoke the old adage--"If the shoe fits, wear it!" =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
