Re: [RC] Fw: Gold Country Awards - rides2farso I have a hard time relating to someone being upset because other people received the same award they did without completing the ride. Ah, maybe I"m being legalistic, but let's take the "pettiness" part out by simply applying it to myself. If I get pulled and you toss me a shirt and say, "Here, have a shirt"...OK. *But* Don't give me a shirt before I do anything and call it an "award". If the shirt you gave them was an award, it bothers me. If you gave them a shirt because you wanted them to have one. Fine. Personally, I wouldn't bother mailing out certificates. The moment is past. The ride meeting is the time to get it. What the award is is not important. If my "award" is a paper cup with my horse's name written in marker, fine, but if you'll wait till I *do* something and give it to me I'll treasure it because it represents an accomplishment. If you give everyone one when thy pay, it's a paper cup to be tossed. P.S. To those talking about labeling awards. A paint marker works pretty well for writing a ride name on something and I've done that before myself. When I came in 11th at a ride and the ride manager rode and was top 10 she insisted on not getting a top 10 award (soft side cooler) which gave me one. I took it home and very carefully (and professionally I might add) wrote "Top 11, Gold Rush 50" on the side. :-) Angie Angie ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
