The horse has already mashed a foot. What is next? Will the horse knock its owner down and trample her while spooking? This type of behavior is totally not acceptable. The horse must be reprogrammed to not spook on top of people, period. Absolutely, Ed. But, IMO, horses are not computers to be reprogrammed, they are living beings that have brains and they can/should be reeducated. This is more than merely splitting hairs linguistically, it's a whole approach to a relationship with horses. The problem with a horse that repeatedly spooks into a person is much bigger than merely those incidents. The spooking into a person is a symptom, not the whole issue. Therefore, that horse needs some basic training = reeudcation, and punishment is not the kind of reeducation that does more than treat symptoms. ________________________________ Lif Strand fasterhorses.com Quemado NM USA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
