That's why I was mentioning that in order to figure out who was before the numbering system, one would have to ask Joe where it cut off that first year. Yes, the numbers were assigned alphabetically by Region, and the West Region was last alphabetically. No particular reason other than convenience. We had around 2500 members at the time. And as Nina pointed out, it is also now possible to have "custom" numbers that are out of sequence--I don't think that was the case to start with (other than Joe's own... <g>) but again likely Joe can answer that. :-) No, we did that from the get-go. Any member could pay $5 to AERC and have their number (or their horse's number) changed to whatever number within the system that they wanted, as long as it was not already in use by somebody else. Susan Kasemeyer, for example, bought her 13130 number. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
