[RC] New Riders - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jeanne Pepper pepperja@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I'm sorry to hear this rider had such an unhappy experience at the race but at the risk of angering some...I gotta say some of her problems could have been eliminated if she'd been a little more pro-active before & during the event.Since she obviously reads "ridecamp"she has available all the answers to her questions of what to expect at every stage of an endurance event.I know it took me a while to figure out how to take care of myself at a ride(always more concerned with the horse)but by now it's been pretty much drilled into everyone that you've got to at least stay hydrated.I've travelled alone to most of the rides I've done and have only had a crew for the 100 mile races so it can be done but does take preparation.I've also met my best endurance friends during times when I needed & asked for help at a ride. There are some really wonderful people out there who will go out of their way to help anyone who has need. This is the best horse sport in the world and one reason is the people who are involved. From one who knows(1st ever endurance ride..Tevis 1980)pepper =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
