[RC] P/R - rides2farOn this 'thread' plain alcohol added to sponging water* can assist in evaporative effect of water, aid in cooling. ( though is very drying to coat and skin. and of course, make horse doesn't drink it!! Personally perfer ICE.) Stephanie Anybody remember the book "Best of Blazer"? Loaned mine years ago and didn't get it back but I remember in the super crewing section it mentioned putting alcohol/water mixture in a 3.5 gal. pump sprayer to cool the horse, but pointed out that if the horse had any little scratches on its body the stinging would be counter productive and send the pulse up rather than down. Considering that everything that goes on the horse or in the horse (like electrolytes) tends to end up on me and in my eyes I've avoided it. Angie "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --WOW-- what a ride !!
