World class marathoners are running 26 miles and change in about 2:08 to 2:15.  Now if you look at the race in the UAE where four horses did 160 km in under 8 hours - I thnk you have your answer. However with endurance horses - they do have rest stops that are not counted in their time. The human marathon is with no stops.  I would expect that the best horse will beat the best human at any distance.

I don't know what the rules of this race are, but this does not seem very
fast to me in light of the 2 hr 30 minute times for LD's.
