Re: [RC] Still on breeeding ............ - Bette Lamore

Maybe Halter is performance, Sandy
The horses are desperately dodging those whips and cattle prods-- have to be VERY agile to escape. The ones without terror in their eyes are probably the most successful dodgers! ;-)
Bette (who despite sarcasm, does not think the ways employed by many halter trainers are funny at all) and Bunny (who would like to stand those cruel trainers in water and apply a cattle-prod to them!)

heh - there has beena shortage of solid performance horses for a long time - seems like it LOOKS worse partly because almost everything is classified as "performance", and indeed, "perforamnce" does nto necessarily lend itself to "athleticism". I just get such a hoot outta the coalition trying to get halter re-classified as a "performance" class. EGADS! What next?
Of course, way too many peeps make way too much money breedinf and selling way too many horses who are in the end...good for nothing after halter.
san ( who doesn't breed for flat croups!)

The very essence of our sport is doing the trail as quickly as practicable,
while keeping one's horse fit to continue. Taking the clock out of the
equation makes it another sport altogether. The challenge is how to keep
the sport what it is while honing our skills (both as riders and as those
in control roles) in detecting where "the edge" is for each horse so that
we don't cross it. ~ Heidi Smith
