With close to 50 years riding experience, including
the training of about 30 horses, I will say 'they all
buck' at least once in their lifetime.

The trick on rider's part is to have decent balance
and riding skill to get past the initial jolt. Sometimes
there is only one big one and in that case one must able to
ride it through, and be prepared to follow it up
with good discipline. This is one occasion when many
experts calls for physical discipline, and maybe a big
'no' yell. Sometimes that is all you can manage because
if I am going to slap with the bat (if I have one), spur, or double it must be
done instantly. If the horse is doubled it
is probably the best treatment for it will usually control\
any follow-up bucks, or least tame it down considerably.

This is another reason I prefer to train horses in a stock saddle where there
is a lot more security than the English saddle. The leathers are designed to
hold rigid and support
the rider's legs for rough stuff.

Once I do whatever I did for discipline it is good to
continue on with the program that was ongoing. As long
as I am able to continue, that is--I have a mare that still bucks
and seems to be related to resentment of the work
at hand. (Seneca, here almost four years of her 8 coming off
the track program. She is also a boss mare who has not really
accepted me as the Boss, and evidenced by her Parelli progress)

But in the end it will be wet saddle blankets that will
be the cure for 99% of the horses. As for the other 1%,I do know two local
horses
that were never able to get past the initial training
program and were relocated to a bucking string of
a FL rodeo contractor.

Go for it!
