Unfortunately, the lynx hair "issue" was an attempt at biologists to ensure that the lab they were running their hair samples through had the ability to discern between lynx and bobcat hair, not an attempt to falsely prove that lynx are actually living in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It really got blown out of proportion by anti-environmentalists, and on a side note there is some rather significant proof of lynx and even a wolf sighting in southern washington (I hope it's true!). If anything is being covered up, it's this evidence, since current WDFW policy is to deport wolves back to Idaho, ironically.
