Re: [RC] [RC] re: [RC] Setting Fire to Tents in FLA ... Howard! Didn't even own a tent back then. I was sleeping in my horse trailer, it got incredibly cold, I was not prepared (geez, what a surprise), and had moved my Coleman lamp close to me for warmth. It was one of those older model Colemans, the kind where you had to pour in some type of camping oil, pump it up, and light the candle. During the night the antique Coleman wandered over to a bale of hay, and lit that sucker up. I was no longer cold. I do believe it took me over three beers to put out that fire. Lesson learned? Sleep with some water filled containers so you don't waste good beer putting out a bad fire. I can relate. On one of my first endurance rides, Robbie and I were sleeping in the bed of our pickup, under a camper shell. It was a cold night, and I brought a little propane-fueled catalytic heater into the shell. During the night, I kicked my sleeping bag into contact with the heater and it caught on fire. I'll tell ya, when your sleeping bag is on fire, it gets your attention. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com ============================================================ Just because someone tells you that your horse isn't "fit" for endurance...doesn't mean it isn't, it just means your horse isn't fit to be "their" endurance horse!
