Re: [RC] parasitic damage - DESERTRYDR1A friend of mine just lost an eight year old Mustang mare that he hadn't had very long. He told me that he wormed her with Anthelcide after he got her. She just died with no particular symptoms. He did his own necropsy (Yes, I know I have strange friends, but he also butchers his own meat, and is more than passing familiar with the insides of animals) and he found lesions on the liver. Looked like little hard pea-shaped spots, and some of them were opened, with strings of tissue hanging out of them. I was curious, wrote to Susan G. and asked if they were some kind of parasites. She said there are several species of parasites that migrate through body tissues, including the liver, heart and lungs. Don't know that was the cause of the mare's death, she was born wild, and had several owners because she didn't think much of humans. Seems to me that having worms crawling through your organs on a regular basis might cause some long term damage. jeri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
