Re: [RC] [RC] Preventing Treated Horses at Rides - Ideas Please - Truman Prevatt

At SERA rides detailed new rider meeting are held. There is always a vet present to go over the Endurance Horse Welfare 101 with emphsis based on the conditions of the trail and/or weather. For a cold ride the considerations would be different than for a hot ride. For a sand ride they would be different than a mountain ride, etc. It's not hard to do - it just needs to become a priority to do it. If the AERC wanted to systematize this, it would be absolutely wonderful.

This is a fabulous idea.  Maybe we could develop a series of short informational programs that could be presented by the head vet at the ride briefing using materials provided by AERC.  And maybe the regional organizations could help work it out so that different topics would be presented at the rides - sort of a circuit thing going on over the course of a ride season.  If it were only 15 minutes or so I think even experienced riders wouldn't mind.  I would be happy to help put this together.

Steph - who should I submit this idea to, the chair of the education committee?
