RE: [RC] trailer brakes/truck brakes - Alison FarrinHave to comment that if you have a diesel truck, a Jake brake is the best $750 you can spend. Hubby had a heart attack that I'd driven our new truck 38,000 miles (90% of them towing) and hadn't changed the brake pads. When the mechanic pulled them off, they were barely more than 50% worn. In my mind, this is wholly attributable to the fact that I only use the brakes to come to a complete stop. I use the Jake to slow down, I use the Jake to slow down before I stop. You want enough brake to stop your trailer, add a Jake! The company that makes Jake brakes now or will soon have a resistance braking product for gas engines. That should be a good thing! Alison A.
