Re: [RC] Trucks - JonniSoon after that someone pointed out to her that it *could* pull it...just didn't have the brake system to *stop* it. Oh well. She's been pulling that big trailer with it for about 8 years now.<<< I have heard cases of folks towing/hauling OVER the recommended ratings of the truck, have an accident, and the insurance company not honoring the claim, as they found the vehicle was over loaded, and found some way to prove the overload, caused the accident. (such as brake failure) Most tow vehicles can haul more than the rating, but I always wonder what parts and pieces we are stressing over time by doing so, to have it break down at the most inopportune time....like on the way to ones favorite ride! I like to think that by staying at the bottom end of what the manufacturer has rated the vehicle, I am not stressing it as bad. Towing is tough on trucks....thankfully, it seems that the manufacturers keep coming up with better and better trucks each year to meet the needs of folks like us who tow. I think all three, Dodge, GM and Ford all have great choices in the NEW truck lines...now each individual has to choose what they want. As far as used...I dunno....that gets tricky.
