[RC] Trucks - Rides 2 Far

Personally, I would never tow > with
less than a 3/4 ton truck, and that would be for 2 horse trailers. 1 >
ton for> anything larger.

I've pulled 2 horse trailers most of my life with a 1/2 ton Chevy
Silverado V-8. No problem whatsoever. Most of that time I never had the
brakes hooked up. :-P I've got a 3/4 ton now. It really doesn't feel as
if it pulls as effortlessly simply because it's geared lower. The 1/2 ton
would fly down the road and I'd forget I was hauling. As long as the
wheel base is the same, would there be a stability difference in the 1/2
& 3/4 ton?

Watch out when checking the manufacturer's specifications. A friend of
mine added up the weight of horses, water, everything on a 3 horse
aluminum trailer with an extended dressing room and it was within the
recommendations for a 1/2 ton Ford pickup which she bought. Soon after
that someone pointed out to her that it *could* pull it...just didn't
have the brake system to *stop* it. Oh well. She's been pulling that big
trailer with it for about 8 years now.

In a perfect world I guess we'd all be over trucked...but if I was paying
for a super truck I would have to work too much and wouldn't have time or
enough money left over to compete.
