Re: [RC] [RC] TWH training - Tina HicksHi Mary, maybe Truman or Maryben will chime in as they have many more miles on a gaited horse than I do. I have a WH who trots about 80% of the time. Since I didn't start life as a gaited person :) I let him do whatever gait he chooses - I pick the speed. Well I try to pick the speed :) So we trot, rack, pace, and do various and sundry other gaits as we go down the trail. I've been riding him for about 2 years - have done 1 50 on him last year and plan to do some CTRs and 50s on him this year. Unless you specifically don't want to post (and I do like to post - gives me somthing to do <g>) and/or don't mind letting your gaited horse trot (a serious crime to some) then let him do the gaits he feels most comfortable doing to cover the miles. He does a running walk but he also trots. He is 15 years old and we are just doing this for fun and because we both like trail riding. Any suggestions for gaited horses/ Thanks - Mary =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
