RE: [RC] [RC] GOVERNMENT HORSE ID-From another list - David LeBlancHeidi said: what happens when terrorists crack the computer system and can actually use the technology against the safe food supply? Then this will be the least of our worries. Things like air traffic control, the electrical grid, the banking system, etc can do a lot more damage. The state of network security is not an especially pretty picture in many places, though there are exceptions. We've been fortunate that the terrorists have so far been not very good at computer attacks. Many computer networks are much easier to get into than most people think. Things are getting better in some places - we're actually allocating the resources to really do the job. An acquaintance wrote a book on this - "The Myth of Homeland Security", by Marcus Ranum. Very sharp guy. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
