Re: [RC] ???sports boots??? - heidiThe question asked: "Do most endurance riders use sports boots, and if so, what type? Why or why not?" I would say most do not. Many use some sort of splint or interference boot, to protect the legs from impact injuries. But true, "Sports boots" , such as those that Pro. Choice make are not that common on rides. Personally, I try to avoid the need for boots if possible, but some horses seem to have a tendency to hit themselves, and may benefit from some sort of protection. Ditto the above, and I would add that the reason for wanting as little on the legs as possible is heat buildup. With regard to the Sports Boots specifically, even the manufacturers agree that they loosen slightly with wear, and that after the first 10 or 15 minutes, they are sufficiently loose that they no longer provide the support that they are designed to provide, unless you readjust them. They are much more applicable to short-duration sports such as racing, jumping, cutting, etc. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
